Rath smirked as he moved down the stairs, Lonnie and Ava flanking him. They came to a stop before the others, enjoying their discomfort. </p> <p>Rath spotted Liz, smirking at her while Max stared at him in bewilderment. Introductions were passed around, before Rath got down to business. He addressed Max directly. &quot;Something's cookin&#133;something that's gonna affect all of us. Could we talk in private?' Max nodded, gesturing for Rath to follow him. </p> <p>Maria discretely watched Rath walk by her, checking him out from behind. <i>&quot;Definitely freaky, but god he's hot.&quot;</i> Her checking Rath out didn't go unnoticed by Michael though he chose not to comment.</p> <p>Once in the office, Rath laid it all out on the table. &quot;Zan ain't dead.&quot; Max's eyes widened in surprise. &quot;How&#133;&quot; he said softly, Rath toying with his lip ring. &quot;Lonnie wanted him dead, coz she wants to go home. I pushed him in front of da truck, while Zan warped her and Ava into believing he was road kill.&quot;</p> <p>Max swallowed again. &quot;Why come here then?' he asked softly. Rath shrugged. &quot;Zan's da man&#133;he wants Lonnie to believe it, and we need da king to rep us at da summit. Coz Lonnie thinks he's dead, we need ya to come back to New York with us.&quot; Max swallowed. &quot;What if she tries to kill me too?&quot; he asked softly. </p> <p>Rath smirked. &quot;Ya ain't my king,&quot; he purred. Max swallowed again, seeing the main differences between Rath and Michael. Rath's loyalties lay with Zan&#133;not him. It was like looking at a distorted image of Michael. Rath smirked again. &quot;She won't try nothin&#133;not when she thinks ya too cornball not to help at da summit. Stupid bitch is blinded by greed&#133;family means nothin to her, not compared to Kivar.&quot;</p> <p>Max nodded, Rath leaning against the table. &quot;It ain't gonna be pretty when Lonnie realizes Zan's still alive. Ya gonna have to play it cool&#133;make her believe she's winning. Then we can take her out from there.&quot; Max blinked at how casual Rath sounded.</p> <p>&quot;So I just follow your lead.&quot; Max said. Rath nodded, a smirk crossing his face again. &quot;I'll have to think about this.&quot; Rath hadn't expected Max to agree right away and it was probably better that he didn't. It would give Zan more time to come up with a plan.</p> <p>Maria and Liz were in one of the back rooms. Maria glanced over to where Alex was fast asleep deciding that now would be the best time to ask what she was talking about how Liz had already meet Rath. &quot;So how did you meet Michael's dupe?&quot; Maria asked. Liz sighed. &quot;He kissed me.&quot; </p> <p>&quot;He kissed you, and you failed to mention this,&quot; Maria stated bluntly. &quot;I thought he was Michael&quot; Liz said. &quot;Oh so my boyfriend slips you the tongue . . . &quot; Liz cut Maria off. &quot;But it wasn't Michael. From the way you are acting it's like you have a thing for him,&quot; Liz said trying to defend herself. Maria blinked going to respond to Liz's comment when Alex woke up interrupting their conversation.</p> <p>Max and Rath walk out of the back room, Max heading over to talk with Isabel, Michael, and Tess while Rath went over to talk with Lonnie and Ava. &quot;They want me to go to New York with them, for some summit meeting.&quot; Max said softly. &quot;We're not invited?&quot; asked Michael </p> <p>Max was stopped from explaining when they heard someone opening the doors to the UFO museum. Max motioned for Rath, Lonnie and Ava to get out of sight. Rath doubled back when he hears &quot; What? Is there a party, funny I wasn't invited. And who are you?&quot;</p> <p>Michael looked to see Rath standing beside him. &quot;Huh Brody this is uh, my twin brother, Rath.&quot; &quot;Oh, I didn't know you had a brother&quot; Brody said in surprise. &quot;I'm from New York.&quot; Stated Rath said, his amusement obvious by the tone of his voice. </p> <p>Maria walked out of the back room, and seeing the problem at hand, walked over to Brody, taking his attention away from the others. &quot;Hi&quot; Maria said, a smile crossing her face. Brody smiled, suddenly forgetting what was going on behind him, no longer caring why everyone was there. &quot;Hi&quot; Brody said, his whole face lighting up. </p> <p>&quot;You know how you asked me about lunch?&quot; Maria asked. &quot;Uh-huh&quot; Brody murmered. &quot;How about breakfast?&quot; Maria asked. Maria hooked her arm into Brody's arm leading him away from Rath and Michael. &quot;Stay as long as you like.&quot; Said Brody. Rath watched Maria and Brody walking up the stairs leading out of the museum. He didn't like seeing her with him, it made him feel something he had never felt before and he didn't like it. &quot;Want me to kill him for ya?&quot; he asked Michael, who watched Maria walking away with Brody before glancing at Rath responding, &quot;I'll get back to you.&quot;</p> <p>Later that evening Max, Tess, Rath, Lonnie and Ava were all at the Trans am ready to leave when Ava decided that she was not going. Rath couldn't make her come along without making Lonnie think that something was up. He shook his head, opening the driver's side door and climbing behind the wheel of the trans am. Lonnie opened the passenger side door and climbed into the passenger seat and Max and Tess climbed into the back. Rath looked into the rear view mirror smirking at the how Max looked uncomfortable. He put the car into reverse, backing the car up, then putting the car in drive, headed for New York City.</p> <p>They arrived in New York City a couple days later. Max and Tess went site seeing while Lonnie and Rath went to meet up with Nicholas. &quot;There he is&quot; Lonnie said. Lonnie and Rath walked over to Nicholas, who was coming up out of the subway. &quot;You get me the granolith or we have no deal,&quot; Nicholas stated. Lonnie smiled. &quot;Ya will get the Granolith, go their coming.&quot; Nicholas walked back down the stairs to the subway, as Max and Tess crossed the street, coming over to Rath and Lonnie.</p> <p>&quot;Ready to see our crib?&quot; Rath asked. Max nodded, almost afraid to see where they lived. They were just so different from Michael and Isabel, especially Lonnie. She threw off a weird vibe, causing chills to skate down Max's spine every time he looked at her. Max still didn't understand how he fit into all of this. </p> <p><br> Max followed Rath and Lonnie down the street to a subway station on Lexington Avenue. Tess glanced at Max wondering where Rath and Lonnie were leading them too. She wondered if they would ever get there after taking several tunnels finally coming to Rath and Lonnie's crib. Max looked around noticing the pods were imbedded into the wall above some shelves against the one wall. An old beat up blue couch was near the shelves where Lonnie was now sitting. Max sat down in an old beat up chair near the couch facing Lonnie and Rath. &quot;When is this summit meeting?&quot; </p> <p>Tess sat down in the chair next to Max still feeling very uncomfortable and out of place. &quot;I'll take ya to the emissary, so they can make sure ya da king&quot; Rath said easily. <br> Max nodded his head, hoping that when they went to meet with this emissary, Rath would fill him in on his plans for Lonnie. </p> <p>A few hours later, Rath and Max left the sewers heading to an old warehouse to meet with the emissary. The emissary walked behind Max, placing his hand against the back of his skull. A blue lighted emitted from Max's forehead, dispersing against the wall forming a V out of five bright lights. The emissary reached into his briefcase handing Max a piece of paper. He closed the briefcase getting up from the table. Max looked at the piece of paper as he got up out of the chair noticing that it was just a time clock. Rath noticed Max's confusion and smirked before explaining. </p> <p>&quot;Ya see da emissary never left his crib.&quot; Rath wrapped his arm around Max's neck leading him out of the warehouse. They were almost back to Rath's crib when Max decided he needed to know what was going down tomorrow. &quot;So what happens tomorrow?&quot; he asked. Rath smirked. &quot;Ya just go to da meetin' dats all ya gotta worry about&quot; he said. </p> <p>Max lay awake for the longest time, wondering how Rath could have anything to do with Lonnie, concidering she was so willing to betray them. The more he thought about the situation, the more he figured Rath didn't have much of a choice. He shuddered at what might happen, if Lonnie found out Rath was actually betraying her before the meeting. His eyes closed when he could no longer keep them open. </p> <p>Tess snuggled into Max's warm toned body, loving the fact that they had to share a bed. Max woke up slowly the next morning, glancing down at the head of blonde curls spread over his T-shirt. He surmised that sometime during the night he must have wrapped his arms around her. Rath stuck his head into the room, knowing he wasn't going to see something he didn't want too. Max was just too much of a prude. </p> <p>&quot;Yo rise and shine&quot; he called. Max nodded his head, before trying to unwrap Tess's small body from around his. Rath laughed, quickly ducking back out of the room. Tess slowly opened her blue eyes looking up into Max's brown eyes. &quot;Sorry&quot; Tess mumbled, while thinking <i>Liz doesn't want you, but I still can't get your attention. What's it going to take?</i> Tess moved away from Max, pushing back the old blanket as she sat up. &quot;That's okay&quot; Max said, hoping she didn't notice that his body had responded to her.</p> <p>Rath went over to the couch, and sat down next to Lonnie. Lonnie smirked, watching Max and Tess walk out of the back room. &quot;Did ya do the beast with two backs?&quot; she chuckled. Max ignored Lonnie's comment, sitting down in one of the chairs. &quot;So when is this summit meeting?&quot; Lonnie moved her hands in front of her. &quot;Chill we get ya to da church on time.&quot; Max shook his head, having a hard time understanding them. He couldn't grip the way they spoke. &quot;Ya will get there,&quot; Rath said. </p> <p>Rath smirked as he sat there, comparing Zan and Max. <i>&quot;Can he gets anymore cornball, he's a special kinda stupid.&quot;</i> Rath decided that he was hungry. &quot;Why don't we go get some grub?&quot; Max nodded his head feeling kind of hungry. </p> <p><br> Meanwhile back in Roswell, Liz found Ava behind the dumpster when she took trash out. &quot;What are you doing here?&quot; Ava lifted her head off the cardboard box. &quot;Sleepin'. What does it look like?&quot; Liz dumped the trash, and then turned towards Ava. &quot;You can't sleep out here. Come inside.&quot; Ava quickly got up off the ground following Liz through the back door of the Crash Down. </p> <p>&quot;Why didn't you go with Rath and Lonnie?&quot; Ava looked up at Liz, her blue eyes betraying her feelings as she lied. &quot;Was too tight.&quot; Liz nodded her head, knowing Ava wasn't telling her everything. Ava sat down on the couch, looking around. Liz sat down next to her, curious about the dupes. &quot;So you and Zan.&quot; Ava smiled sadly. &quot;Zan and me were together, but not in da way that counted.&quot;</p> <p>Ava looked at Liz silently. &quot;He was cool though. Always lookin out for me, tryin to do what was right for us.&quot; Liz smiled softly. &quot;You must have loved him a lot,&quot; she said softly. Ava nodded sadly. &quot;Yeah. But I don't think he ever loved me back. He was always lookin' for something else. You would have fit him perfect.&quot; Liz blushed, wondering what it would be like with a darker, rougher version of Max. </p> <p>Kyle suddenly walked in through the back doors. &quot;What's up? I couldn't sleep.&quot; He looked at Ava licking his lips,<i> damn</i>. Liz tried not to laugh noticing that Kyle obviously thought Ava was hot. Ava noticed Kyle's reaction, quickly looking his hard body up and down. Kyle noticed that she looked like Tess but was a punk. &quot;Um Liz . . . &quot; Liz interrupted Kyle. &quot;This is Ava. She's Tess's dupe.&quot; </p> <p>Kyle shifted on his feet, forgetting why he stopped over. &quot;I'm going to go out front to get some breakfast,&quot; he said finally. He walked through the back doors, and going over to the booth where Alex was sitting, slid into the opposite seat. Alex smiled. &quot;Morning.&quot; Kyle nodded his head, waiting for the waitress to come over. Maria walked over to their booth with her pen and order pad ready to take their order. &quot;What will it be?&quot; </p> <p>Alex looked up at Maria. &quot;Space jacks, and coffee.&quot; Maria wrote down Alex's order waiting for Kyle's. &quot;I want green eggs and moon rock hash, with a coffee.&quot; Maria wrote down Kyle's order. &quot;I'll be right back with your drinks after I put your order in.&quot; She walked away from the table going over to where Michael was working, giving him the order.</p> <p><br> &quot;Hey, what is you doing after work?&quot; Michael asked. Maria smiled, wondering why Michael suddenly wanted to know what she had planned. Michael continued to flip pancakes on the grill waiting for Maria to answer him. &quot;I have plans. I have to get Kyle and Alex's drinks&quot; Maria said, walking back behind the counter and getting the cups ready. Picking up the cups, she walked over to the booth Alex and Kyle were sitting in, setting their cups of coffee down in front of them.</p> <p>&quot;Your food should be ready soon,&quot; Maria said. Alex nodded his head. &quot;We still on for our girls night at Liz's?&quot; Maria nodded her head. &quot;Ava's here too&quot; Kyle said. Maria smiled, thinking that it would be nice to get to know Ava. She seemed nice, different but still nice. &quot;Kyle why don't you join us for girls night,&quot; Alex asked. Kyle shrugged his shoulders. &quot;Sure.&quot; &quot;I'm going to go see if your orders are up&quot; Maria said. </p> <p>She walked back over to Michael, just as he yelled, &quot;Maria, orders up.&quot; &quot;Right here, you don't need to yell&quot; Maria snarled. She picked up the two plates, walking away from Michael before he could even respond.</p> <p>Rath, Lonnie, Tess, and Max walked down First Street, heading towards the old abandoned building. Max glanced nervously over at Rath and Lonnie, still not feeling very good about being near Lonnie. She creeped him out. Lonnie was kind of like having Pierce close to him again. The thought made his skin crawl. </p> <p>They entered the warehouse, going inside one of the rooms. Max saw Brody standing there. &quot;Brody?&quot; Max asked. &quot;Actually its Larek. Are you Zan?&quot; Brody asked. &quot;No, I'm Max Evans.&quot; Max noticed that there were three other people besides Brody, who must each be a representative of their planet. Brody introduced each person. &quot;Kathana, Sero, Hanar, and I will represent our planets. Max will represent his. Nicholas walked into the room. &quot;Actually, Kivar represents his world, and I speak for Kivar&quot; he said. </p> <p>Nicholas sat down in the chair across from Max. He glanced over at Tess smirking at her. &quot;Killed anyone today?&quot; Nicholas asked. &quot;Day's not over&quot; Tess spat. &quot;Such a charmer&quot; Nicolas chuckled dryly. Lonnie leant down to Max. &quot;You know him?&quot; she whispered. &quot;He was in Roswell&quot; Max said. &quot;Can we get down to business?&quot; Brody asked impatiently. </p> <p>Nicholas nodded his head, wanting to get what he had planned, over and done with. Rath stepped closer to Lonnie, as Zan stepped out into the open. &quot;I'll save ya da trouble,&quot; Zan growled. Larek got up from the table, walking over to Lonnie and placing cuffs around her wrists, which melted as they joined to her DNA. &quot;You are being granted your wish in a sense. You will be teleported back to my home planet where you will be sentenced to death for the attempted murder of Zan&quot; Larek purred. </p> <p>Rath walked over to Zan, and standing next to him, regarded Lonnie with pure hated. &quot;Rath?&quot; Lonnie asked weakly. &quot;Ya a special kinda stupid. Ya thought I would betray me bro,&quot; Rath growled. Lonnie glared at Rath as realization set in, understanding the flash she had gotten from him last night. &quot;She's human&quot; Lonnie said. Rath smirked raising his right eyebrow pondering what Lonnie was saying. Max watched Nicholas slip out the back door, slithering away like the snake he was. </p> <p>&quot;This was a waste of our time&quot; Kathana yelled. &quot;I would never have given Nicholas what he wanted. I don't trust him. Besides he ran out the back soon as Larek cuffed Lonnie&quot; Max stated calmly. Kathana, Sero, and Hanar glared at everyone, before getting up from the table. They walked out the back door leaving Larek alone with Zan, Rath, Lonnie, Max and Tess. </p> <p>&quot;I need to get her to where the transport will take place. This is taking a lot of our resources&quot; Brody said. Brody lead Lonnie out the door to the designated transport. Tess hadn't taken her eyes off Zan since he had entered the room. Zan smirked, thinking <i>not in this lifetime.</i> He turned his attention to Max. &quot; Thanks for agreeing to help, when ya didn't have to.&quot; Max nodded his head &quot;I would hope you would help us if we ever needed it.&quot; </p> <p>Maria, Alex, and Kyle walked into Liz's house for girl's night. She wondered where Ava was since Kyle had said she was with Liz. &quot;Where's Ava?&quot; Maria asked. &quot;She left shortly after Kyle went into the Crash Down earlier something about getting back to her crib to get her stuff&quot; Liz said. Kyle sat down on her couch trying to hide his disappointment, which didn't go unnoticed by Liz.</p> <p>&quot;Ava said she would keep in touch,&quot; she told him softly. Kyle rewarded her words with a brilliant smile. Maria sat down on the couch next to Kyle as Alex sat down on the other side of Maria. Liz sat down in her futon looking over at Alex. &quot;What movies did you bring?&quot; Liz asked. &quot;Underworld. Thought it worked for action and hot guy&quot; Alex answered. Alex got up from the couch and put the DVD on. </p> <p>&quot;We are going to catch a flight back to Roswell&quot; Max said. Zan nodded his head, wanting to get back to their crib and relax. &quot;Rath, where's Ava?&quot; Zan asked. &quot;She refused to come back, coz she's thinkin I killed ya&quot; Rath said softly, his anger clear in his voice. Damn Lonnie. &quot;What?&quot; Tess gasped. &quot;Long story. Max can tell ya on ya flight back to Roshell&quot; Rath spat. </p> <p>Rath really didn't like Tess. She was just so different from his sister Ava. He wondered if Michael even knew that Tess was his sister. Zan's fingers twirled the silver ball pierced through his chin trying to think of what to do about Ava not being there. He finally decided that she would have to come back to their crib to get her stuff. After she did, he would explain to her what went down. </p> <p>&quot;Well, Tess and I are going to get a cab to the airport&quot; Max said. Zan and Rath both nodded their heads. &quot;See ya.&quot; Max and Tess walked out to the street hailing a cab. When a cab stopped Max opened the back door letting Tess climb into the cab then climbing in after her and closing the door. He looked at Zan and Rath one final time, once more seeing the distorted images. </p> <p>Zan and Rath walked down the street, going down the stairs to the tunnels and back to their crib. He looked around realizing that they had to move: too many bad memories. &quot;We stay here until Ava shows. Then I want to get an apartment,&quot; Zan said, leaving no room for argument. Rath nodded his head in agreement. He never cared to see his bedroom again, and he so wanted a scalding hot shower, wanting Lonnie's touch off his skin. &quot;I'm gonna crash on da couch,&quot; Rath said. He smirked, thinking about a certain blonde haired, green-eyed beauty. </p> <p>Maria closed her bedroom door and walked over to her bed. Stripping off her clothes, she threw them onto the floor, and pulled a silk camisole over her head. Pulling back the covers, she climbed into her bed. She laid her head down on the pillows and pulled the sheets and blankets up over her body covering herself. Rath seemed like he was waiting on the dream plane forever.<i> &quot;Is ya ever gonna go ta sleep?&quot;</i> he thought. He felt the shift in the dream plane as Maria drifted off to sleep. </p> <p>Maria gasped, not expecting to find Rath in her dreams. &quot;Not only did I think he was hot now he's in my dreams&quot; she babbled to herself. Rath smirked, his heated gaze running up and down her body, silently wishing she would dream about being naked. &quot;I wanted ta thank ya&quot; Rath said. Maria stared at Rath, wondering why he would be thanking her. &quot;Ya helped me,&quot; he explained. Rath walked over to Maria, gently running his large calloused hand down her cheek. Maria trembled, feeling his gentle touch, her eyes sliding shut at his touch. </p> <p>&quot;When ya gets sick of Roshell, come to da city. I'll explain then&quot; he said softly, his voice full of hidden promises. Maria watched Rath fade from her dream, leaving her shaking silently with need, which had sprung up out of nowhere. </p> <p>PT 2</p> <p>Max and Tess stepped off the plane, and walked through the terminal back into the Roswell airport. They crossed over to the automatic doors, which opened, and they stepped through. One of the first things Max noticed was the quiet. He smiled. <i>&quot; So nice to be home.&quot; </i></p> <p>Max hailed a Taxi and opened the back door for Tess, before sliding into the seat after her. &quot;Where to?&quot; the cab driver asked. &quot;One hundred and ten Mayberry Street,&quot; Max stated. The driver nodded his head pulling the car onto the road. A short while later the cab driver stopped the car. </p> <p>&quot;That will be forty dollars,&quot; the cab driver said. Max reached into his back pocket, and took out his wallet. He opened his wallet, and removed two twenties, handed them to the cabbie. &quot;Have a nice night,&quot; the cabbie said. Max opened the car door, and climbed out. Tess climbed out after Max, closing the car door behind her. &quot;Michael won't mind we are here this late?&quot; Tess asked. &quot;No&quot; Max answered. </p> <p>Max walked to Michael's front door, and placed his hand on the door handle, using his powers to open the door. They walked into Michael's apartment quietly, closing the door behind them. Walking into the living room, they found Michael sleeping on his couch. Michael sensed someone standing there, so he opened his brown eyes and looked up at Max. </p> <p>&quot;See you made it back in one piece&quot; Michael said softly, the accusations clear in his tone. He was still unhappy about being left behind. Max nodded his head yes then said, &quot;I want to have a meeting and tell everyone why I really went to the summit meeting.&quot; &quot;The whole group?&quot; Michael asked. &quot;No, I'll just have to call Isabel&quot; Max said softly, his fight with her still fresh in his mind.</p> <p>&quot;She's asleep in my bedroom&quot; Michael replied. Tess smiled, still hoping that Michael and Isabel would embrace their destiny. Michael sat up, getting off the couch and walking into his bedroom. He walked over to his bed and sat down on the edge near Isabel. He gently touched her shoulder saying, &quot;Iz, Max and Tess are back.&quot;</p> <p>Isabel opened her brown eyes staring up at Michael. She pushed the covers back before climbing out of the bed. &quot;Good, maybe Max will tell me what is going on, since you wouldn't&quot; Isabel spat, stalking out of the room. Michael shook his head, slowly getting up off the bed, and following Isabel out of his bedroom. Isabel sat down on the couch next to Tess, impatiently waiting for Max to explain his trip to New York City. Michael sat down in his rocker recliner, getting comfortable knowing Max and his speeches. </p> <p>&quot;When Rath, Lonnie and Ava showed up a couple of days ago and Rath said that Zan died in a freak accident, that was a lie. When Rath and I went to talk in the back room he told me Zan was alive but Lonnie had come to him wanting Zan dead&quot; Max said. &quot;Wait&#133; Zan's alive?&quot; Isabel exclaimed. &quot;Then why have you and Tess go to New York.&quot; &quot;Zan mind warped, Lonnie and Ava making them think that Rath had killed him like she wanted&quot; Max stated flatly. </p> <p>Max paused letting what he had told them so far sink in. &quot;They needed me so that Lonnie could be taken away at the meeting. From what I gathered, the meeting was a sham. Lonnie was working with Nicholas trying to get the Granolith&quot; Max explained. &quot;It was her one chance of getting home, something Zan and Rath didn't want to do.&quot;</p> <p>Tess listened quietly, still trying to figure out what Lonnie's comment was about. 'But she is human' she heard Lonnie say again. &quot;I would have never guessed Rath was working against Lonnie. Like seeing Michael and Isabel making out&quot; Max said with an involuntary shudder. </p> <p>Isabel made a face. &quot;No offence, but Michael and me? Ewww.&quot; &quot;I can't see us together either&quot; Michael said with a laugh. &quot;I'm still trying to figure out what Lonnie meant about she's human&quot; Tess said. Isabel sat there trying to decide if she was going to tell Max about over hearing the reasons behind Liz saying we already meet. Max noticed Isabel becoming suddenly quiet and wondered what she was thinking. </p> <p>&quot;Rath went to the school pretending to be Michael and kissed Liz&quot; Isabel finally said, shooting a worried look at Max. Michael looked like he was about to get sick. &quot;You mean people at school think I kissed Liz?&quot; Michael asked weakly. &quot;From what I heard it was with tongue too,&quot; Isabel laughed. Isabel noticed Michael looked like he was going to throw up.</p> <p>&quot;I don't think the human Lonnie was referring to was Liz&quot; Max said. Michael turned toward Max glaring at him. &quot;I don't know any human who would want to be with them. They live in the sewers&quot; Tess commented snidely. &quot;The Crash Down should be opening soon, why don't we go get some breakfast&quot; Max suggested. He didn't want to discuss their dupes anymore.</p> <p>Maria slowly opened her green eyes, moaning in frustration when she moved her body. Her legs rubbed together, reminding her of her dream. Throwing back the covers, she climbed out of bed and walked into her bathroom. Mumbling to her self, she turned on the hot and cold-water faucets, adjusting the water till just the right temperature. She stepped into the shower. Closing the curtain, she pulled up the shower level. The water sprayed out of the shower head, the cold water hitting her body before turning back to warm. </p> <p>&quot;He barely touched me . . .&quot; Maria whispered, the memory of Rath's hands lingering in her mind. She reached over the shower head taking down the scrubby then reached down and picked up a bottle of lavender body wash. Squeezing the soap onto the scrubby she slowly moved the scrubby around her soft body, imagining the scrubby were Rath's calloused hands. </p> <p>Liz flipped the sign to open and unlocked the doors of the Crash Down. Maria ran in a few minutes later. &quot;You're late&quot; Liz commented, shooting Maria a worried look. &quot;I know. Sorry, I over slept&quot; Maria quickly explained. The bell over the door chimed, signaling someone was coming into the restaurant. Maria and Liz looked over, seeing Max, Tess, Isabel and Michael walk over to their usual booth. </p> <p>&quot;I'll get them,&quot; Maria offered. &quot;No it's ok Maria, I'll get them. They are in my section&quot; Liz said softly. &quot;You sure, cause I know there's been tension between you and Max lately&quot; Maria said. Liz nodded her head yes, already walking over to the booth they were sitting in. She took her order pad and pen out ready to take their orders. &quot;Hi. What can I get for you?&quot; Liz asked.</p> <p>&quot;Does Maria work till close tonight?&quot; Michael asked. Liz shook her head, wondering why Michael was asking her. &quot;Do the two of you have plans later?&quot; Michael asked again. &quot;Why are you asking me?&quot; Liz asked. Michael got up from the booth, quickly walking over to Maria. &quot;What are you doing after work?&quot; Michael asked. &quot;Going home&quot; Maria answered. &quot;Want to come over?&quot; Michael asked hopefully. &quot;Michael, I already told you that I don't want to get into what we had before&quot; Maria explained softly. Michael grabbed Maria's hand, taking her into the backroom. </p> <p>&quot;I don't see why he just doesn't leave her alone&quot; Tess commented. Liz had written their orders down and was walking over to Jose, when she heard Tess comment. <i>&quot;Maybe he can't take no for an answer&quot;</i> thought Liz She gave Jose their order, before slipping out into the backroom to rescue Maria. &quot;Maria, are you working today, or making out with Michael&quot; Liz asked sarcastically. &quot;I'm working,&quot; Maria stated firmly. She turned to Michael. &quot;I have to work, maybe I can come over after I get stuff done at home.&quot; Maria walked back through into the diner with Michael right behind her.</p> <p><br> Liz walked back over to their booth, placing their drinks down in front of them. Michael walked back over, sliding back into his seat. &quot;Liz?&quot; Michael questioned. &quot;Yes&quot; Liz asked. &quot;Did you think it was me that kissed you at school?&quot; Michael asked. &quot;Yeah, I thought maybe you were drunk&quot; Liz answered softly, shooting a quick glance at Max, who glared up at her. Liz quickly walked away, not wanting to hear any more about the kiss. All she could keep thinking about, was that Maria sure had a fit about the kiss, almost like she wished it was her or that she had a thing for Rath. </p> <p>Maria walked over to the booth Alex and Kyle were sitting in. &quot;What can I get you guys?&quot; she asked. &quot;Just coffee&quot; Alex answered. &quot;Kyle?&quot; Maria asked. &quot;Same,&quot; Kyle answered. Maria nodded her head walking behind the counter. She set their cups down on the counter filling them with coffee. Picking the cups back up she carried them over to their table setting the cups down in front of them. </p> <p>Liz walked back over to Max, Michael, Tess, and Isabel's booth setting their food down in front of them. She placed the bill on the table saying &quot;Just yell if you need something else&quot; before she walked away from their booth. Maria walked back over to the counter telling Liz &quot;It's pretty slow today.&quot; &quot;I know&quot; Liz said. &quot;Michael wants me to come over to his apartment after work&quot; Maria told her. &quot;Are you going to?&quot; Liz asked. &quot;I don't know&quot; Maria answered sadly. </p> <p>Michael pushed his food around on his plate, not really hungry. He was wondering what was up with Maria. He had noticed that Max seemed kind of moody toward Liz, and he wondered if it had something to do with the rumor going around that Liz and Kyle slept together. Isabel finished her food getting up from the table. &quot;I'm going to go talk to Alex. He's supposed to be leaving for Sweden soon&quot; Isabel said softly. &quot;See you later&quot; Max said. &quot;See you at home&quot; Isabel said. She walked over to the booth Alex and Kyle were sitting in, sliding into the seat beside Alex.</p> <p>&quot;I'm going to head out too&quot; Max stated. &quot;Me too&quot; Tess said quickly. Max and Tess got up from the booth. Max walked over to the register, paying for their food. Michael decided that he wasn't going to sit there looking like a lost puppy dog in hopes Maria would change her mind. He got up from the booth following Max and Tess out of the Crash Down. </p> <p>Liz debated on whether or not she wanted to say anything to Maria or not. She decided to wait until after Isabel felt so she wouldn't over hear and run right back to Michael. Isabel, Alex and Kyle got up a few minutes later. They paid the bill at the register, and then left the Crash Down. Maria noticed that Liz seemed to be deep in thought. &quot;Spill&quot; Maria commanded. &quot;First promise me you are not going to take this the wrong way&quot; Liz pleaded. &quot;I promise&quot; Maria said in surprise. </p> <p>&quot;I was just thinking that you had a major freak out about Rath kissing me, and I was wondering if it was because you thought it was Michael or became you knew it was Rath&quot; Liz questioned. Maria chewed on her bottom lip not really sure what the answer was. &quot;If you have a thing for Rath, you should tell Michael you no longer want to be with him. It's only fair.&quot; Liz said softly. &quot;I know. What are you doing after work?&quot; Maria asked. &quot;Nothing. Want to hang and talk?&quot; Liz asked. Maria nodded her head. &quot;Yes.&quot; </p> <p>PT 3</p> <p>Ava walked the dark lonely streets of New York City, hoping she wouldn't run into Rath and Lonnie. She reached Lexington Avenue and turned right, walking down the street until she reached the entrance to the subway. Walking down the stairs and into the subway, she kept her ears open, listening for sounds that would alert her to danger. </p> <p>Once in the subway Ava ducked behind an old abandoned subway car, and through a whole in the wall that lead to the tunnels. She walked through the tunnels, stepping over several big puddles of muddy water and a couple of pipes along the way, until she finally reached her old crib. As soon as she saw the old blue couch, she stopped dead in her tracks, not believing what she was seeing. Ava rubbed her eyes, thinking she was seeing things. </p> <p>Zan and Rath were sitting on the couch, looking through a newspaper. Zan looked up from the newspaper, spotting Ava standing there. &quot;Took ya long enough ta get back. Though I don't think Rath woulda minded another trip ta Rozhell&quot; Zan said with a familiar smirk. Rath smiled, thinking about the one thing in Rozhell worth seeing. &quot;Ya must be buggin out right now,&quot; Rath stated calmly. </p> <p>Ava glanced around the room, searching for Lonnie but not finding her. She placed her hands on her hips, her blue eyes sparkling with anger as she glared at Zan and Rath. &quot;Last thing I remember was you,&quot; Ava pointed at Rath. &quot;Pushing him&quot; Ava said pointing to Zan. &quot;In front of a Mac truck. Ya used ya powers, makin da truck run him over&quot; Ava yelled. Ava paused, glaring at the both of them in anger. </p> <p>Zan got up off the couch walking toward Ava. &quot;Don't ya dare touch me?&quot; Ava yelled. &quot;Ya do, and I'll kill ya my self.&quot; Zan stopped, putting his hands up in the air. &quot;Iz sorry, I couldn't take da chance Lonnie would finds out.&quot; Zan explained. &quot;Come sit down. We'll explain everything,&quot; Rath said. </p> <p>Ava walked over to the chair, slumping down in anger and fear. &quot;Well?&quot; Ava demanded, tapping her small foot on the dirty cement floor. &quot;Lonnie came ta me. She wanted Zan dead. So I went ta Zan, told him what Lonnie had cookin&quot;. Rath paused for a moment to collect his thoughts. Zan gave him a sympathetic look, picking up the story.</p> <p>&quot;Rath told me he thought Lonnie was doing da beast with two backs with someone else. I followed her one day, keepin my distance. She was with Nicholas. I over heard him tellin her about a way home if she could get the Granolith and me to da summit. She told Nicholas I refused da last time she asked me. So he told Lonnie about Max&quot; Zan informed Ava. &quot;It was after That, that Lonnie told me she had found us away home but Zan wouldn't bite, so we needed to off him&quot; Rath said softly.</p> <p>Ava glared at both Zan and Rath, still angry that they had kept it from her, even though she knew that they were trying to protect her. &quot;I know ya both were trying to protect me, but Iz still mad,&quot; she said softly. Ava glanced around the crib still expecting to see Lonnie jump out at her. Zan noticed Ava's uneasiness. &quot;Lonnie is gone never comin back. I talked with Larek before da meetin. He took her back for execution&quot; Zan said. Ava could tell from the tone of Zan's voice that he was not feeling any remorse. </p> <p>Meanwhile back in Roswell, Maria changed out of her uniform, slipping her T-shirt over her head and stepping into her jeans. Liz came in the backroom, a smile playing on her lips. &quot;Just come up. I'm going to go change,&quot; she said. Maria took out her small black purse and closed her locker. She walked up the stair, opening the front door to Liz's apartment. Walking inside and closing the front door behind herself, she waited for Liz.</p> <p>Liz walked out of her bedroom wearing a pair of black jeans and a light blue T-shirt. &quot;We can talk in my bedroom. I'm just going to get a drink first,&quot; Liz said as she walked into the kitchen. She walked back into the living room carrying two cans of Pepsi. Handing one to Maria, they walked through the living room and down the hall into her bedroom. They set their drinks down on Liz's bed stand, before climbing onto Liz's twin bed and<br> curling their legs up Indian style. Maria sat down on the bed next to her sitting in the same position as Liz. </p> <p>&quot;So why are you avoiding Michael?&quot; Liz asked. Maria thought about what Liz asked her, her cheeks flaming as she started to babble. &quot;I never got over him kissing Courtney, ya know, and then he stole her husk when we went to coppers summit to save you, Max, Tess, and Isabel. Michael says that Courtney could give him answers to his past but I can't help thinking that there is more to it than that. Oh and then he told her about the Granolith&quot; Maria babbled.</p> <p>&quot;So your major issue with Michael is Courtney, but she is gone. To be more precise, she turned to dust&quot; Liz said. &quot;He always makes everything more important than me,&quot; Maria said while still side stepping the main reasons she was avoiding Michael. &quot;What about Rath?&quot; Liz asked. </p> <p>Maria bit her bottom lip, knowing Rath was a big part of why she was avoiding Michael. &quot;What about him?&quot; Maria asked carefully. Liz laughed, having already anticipated the avoidance of the real reason Maria didn't want to be with Michael anymore. &quot;What's so funny?&quot; Maria asked. Liz simply smiled. &quot;You.&quot; &quot;Me?&quot; Maria asked. &quot;He visited me in my dream last night&quot; Maria whispered suddenly. </p> <p>Liz blinked, thinking for a moment that she had not heard Maria correctly. &quot;He visited you in your dream last night&#133;like dream walking? I thought that was Isabel's power&quot; Liz said, her mind reeling with all the possibilities. &quot;He thanked me,&quot; Maria said. &quot;He thanked you for what?&quot; Liz asked. Maria shrugged her shoulders not sure why he thanked her. &quot;He told me when I get sick of Rozhell, to come and visit him in the city. He would explain then,&quot; Maria said softly.</p> <p>&quot;If I was you, I'd want to know why&quot; Liz said. Maria smiled, wanting more than just the answer to that question. Liz watched the expression on Maria's face, and the way her green eyes seemed to sparkle, just from the mention of Rath's name. She determined that whether Maria wanted to admit how she felt or not, she had a thing for a certain alien that lived in New York City.</p> <p><br> Ava was unable to sit still any longer. Getting up out of the chair, she started pacing back and forth. &quot;I knows it's gonna take some time for ya not ta be mad at us&quot; Zan said. &quot;I realized somethin when I was in Roswell. I know ya never loved me Zan&#133;not in da way dat matters. I just wants to get one thing straight&#133;you and me&#133;it's over isn't it?&quot; Ava said in one breath. </p> <p>Zan nodded his head; secretly relieved Ava didn't want to fall back into what they had before. &quot;Dis seems ta be da week for surprises,&quot; Zan said. &quot;What do ya mean?&quot; Ava asked. &quot;Well it seems dat ya bro meet someone in Rozhell, as he calls it. Just like I thinks ya meet someone,&quot; Zan said. Ava couldn't help but wonder who she was. After all he hadn't really gone anywhere except the school and the meeting of their dupes. &quot;Iz dat what's ya meant about gettin' da lay of da land?&quot; Ava asked.</p> <p>Rath remembered saying that to Liz after kissing her at the school. &quot;No, I think she more Zan's B'tch dan mine&quot; Rath said. Zan looked over at Rath, wondering what he had missed. &quot;I kissed Liz at da school. She thought I was Michael. She'd be perfect for ya&quot; Rath said. &quot;I told Liz da same thing&quot; Ava mussed quietly.</p> <p>Rath decided to tell her before the twenty questions started and she drove him nuts till he told her. &quot;Ria&quot; Rath said softly. Ava raised her right eyebrow that almost matched the way Rath did, not expecting to hear he liked Maria. She sat back down in the chair across from Rath and Zan. &quot;I like their friend Kyle, he wasn't at the meeting&quot; Ava explained. &quot;Why wasn't he at da meeting?&quot; Rath asked. </p> <p>&quot;Not cause he didn't know, cause Liz said Max healed him too. I guess that was when an FBI agent was after Max. Ya know Liz, Maria, Kyle and Alex have been through a lot of shit cause of da others,&quot; Ava said. &quot;Back to what we needs ta do,&quot; Zan said. &quot;Is that why ya was lookin at da paper?&quot; Ava asked. </p> <p>Rath nodded his head yes, still liking the place Zan had found. &quot;We decided ta get an apartment. Too many bad memories&quot; Zan said. &quot;Works for me&quot; Ava said. Ava got up from the chair, walking into what used to be her and Zan's bedroom, throwing her clothes into an old duffle bag. She walked back out into the main part of the crib a few minutes later. &quot;Iz ready when ever da two of ya is&quot; Ava said, causing Rath and Zan to start laughing at her eagerness.</p> <p>Zan and Rath both got up off the couch. Zan picked up the newspaper with the apartment he thought would do best for them. &quot;We is gonna go see dis apartment. It's not far from da crib, maybe a block or two. We each would have our own bedroom and it has two bathrooms,&quot; Zan said. Ava decided that she was going to have one of the bathrooms all to herself. &quot;Da two of ya can share a bathroom and I get da other&quot; Ava said leaving no room for argument. </p> <p>Liz and Maria continued to talk about everything and anything. Maria decided that Liz was right; she needed to tell Michael she was not interested in him. She knew that was going to be the hard part. &quot;I should get going&quot; Maria said. &quot;Ok&quot; Liz said. Liz and Maria got up from her bed, walking out of her bedroom. Liz closed the door behind Maria, silently praying that Michael didn't lose his temper when Maria told him she was not interested in him anymore.</p> <p>Maria walked home slowly, opening her front door. She was thankful her mom was away on business, not wanting to explain why she was home so late. Especially when her mom would automatically assume she was home late because of Michael. She walked down the hall going into her bedroom. Flipping the switch she turned on her bedroom light, gasping in shock when she found Michael sitting in her bedroom. </p> <p>&quot;Thought you had stuff to do at home&quot; Michael said, using an accusing tone of voice. Maria sighed, not really ready to have this conversation with Michael. But there was no time like the present. &quot;I did&quot; Maria said. &quot;You weren't here,&quot; Michael said. &quot;I never left the Crash Down&quot; Maria explained. &quot;Someone call in?&quot; Michael asked. &quot;No&quot; Maria answered. She decided the best way to do this was to get it done and over with.</p> <p>&quot;Michael, I'm not interested in being anything more than your friend. Things haven't been the same since you pushed me away. You suddenly decided that I am important to you, and that's nice but I want more for my life than Roswell. I want to get out of this town and have no one to answer to but myself. You will always have to be where Max, Isabel and Tess are,&quot; Maria said softly. </p> <p>Michael couldn't believe he was hearing this from Maria but was silently thankful that she was honest with him. &quot;If that's what you want, then I respect that and thank you for being honest with me,&quot; Michael said. He walked past her, going out of her bedroom before Maria could even say another word. Maria sighed, not wanting to have hurt Michael but at the same time knowing it was the right thing to do. She pulled her t-shirt over her head throwing it onto the floor. Unbuttoning and unzipping her jeans, she stepped out of them, and fell into bed. She closed her green eyes, hoping that she would see Rath in her dreams again.</p> <p><br> PT 4</p> <p>Maria walked through the doors of the Crash Down, holding onto the book she used for writing her song. She planned on putting the finishing touches on her song that she was working on for her performance tonight. Sliding into the booth she took out her pen and opened the notebook. </p> <p>Liz walked over with two cups of coffee. setting one down near Maria. She slid into the seat across from Maria. &quot;So, did you talk to Michael?&quot; Liz asked Maria nodded her head, not keen on elaborating. Liz stared at her best friend, curiosity eating away at her as she sat across from Maria.</p> <p>Maria smiled, knowing Liz wanted to know if Michael had blown a gasket. She decided to put her out of her misery. &quot;He took it quite well,&quot; Maria said. Liz's brown eyes doubled in shock, not expecting Michael to have taken the news that well. &quot;You mean he didn't scream and yell when you told him about wanting . . . &quot; Maria cut Liz off.</p> <p>&quot;I didn't tell him that part. After all there, is nothing to tell.&quot; &quot;Yet&quot; she thought to herself. Liz laughed, thinking it was so typical for Maria to leave one of the important reasons out. She sipped her coffee, watching Maria work on what she assumed was a song for her first performance later that night.</p> <p>Maria finished working on the lyrics, reading them through to commit them to memory for tonight. Closing her notebook and setting it aside, she picked up her coffee and took a sip. &quot;You are coming tonight right?&quot; Maria asked. &quot;Of course&quot; Liz answered, shocked that Maria had felt she needed to even ask. Maria smiled, happy that Liz would be there since Alex couldn't be. </p> <p>&quot;I hope Alex is having fun in Sweden&quot; Maria said. &quot;Yeah, me too. I miss him,&quot; Liz said. Maria finished drinking her coffee, deciding that she was going to go to the mall to get a new outfit for her performance. &quot;I'll see you tonight. Maria got up, and picking up her notebook and pen, she walked to the front doors of the Crash Down walking through them.</p> <p></p> <p>Rath, Zan and Ava walked into their new apartment on Lexington Avenue. Ava walked through the apartment, looking around her new home. After walking in the door, they were standing in a little hallway, which lead into the living room. The living room wasn't too big and not too small. She figured it would fit a couch, maybe a couple of chairs, and an entertainment center. There was a small kitchen off of the living room, with an extended white counter top. &quot;We could get bar stools and eat right here&quot; Ava said, thinking out loud. </p> <p>The kitchen also had a white gas stove and a side-by-side refrigerator and freezer. There was a small dining room off the kitchen and another hallway. Walking down the hallway Ava walked into the first door, deciding this was going to be her bedroom. She smiled thinking that it would fit a king-sized bed, a couple of end stands, and a dresser. Rath and Zan walked down the hall. Zan went into the next door on the right. &quot;Dis is mine&quot; Zan said. Rath looked around hoping his bedroom was about the same size. </p> <p>Rath walked back out, going into the door on the left, which was one of the bathrooms. The bathroom was not too big or small, with a white toilet, a small white sink sitting in the middle of a small white counter top, with silver lines throughout the counter top. Over the sink was a small medicine cabinet and to the left, was a white porcelain tub. He walked back out of the bathroom, and walked down the hall and into the door at the end of the hall. Smirking Rath decided that he got the biggest bedroom. He noticed that the second bathroom was actually off his bedroom. Opening the door, he walked inside seeing it was just like the other bathroom only a little smaller in size. </p> <p>They all walked back out of the rooms they had picked going into the living room. &quot;We need furniture&quot; Ava said Rath nodded his head in agreement. &quot;I don't want nothin' from da old crib,&quot; Rath said. Zan nodded his head, not wanting anything from their old crib either. &quot;Larek told me how ta get in touch with our protector. That was what I did earlier. He is sending western union enough money ta start buyin' da furniture. There is an old bar with a space, which is big enough for a small dance club three blocks up. Kal purchased the place for me, so I now own a bar. It will be our way of paying the bills&quot; Zan explained. He took out a credit card handing the card to Ava. &quot;I figured ya wouldn't mind going shopping for our new crib.&quot; &quot;Hell no&quot; Ava said.</p> <p><br> Maria glanced in the mirror liking the way her blonde hair hung down around her face. The ends of her blonde hair stopping just above the red leather halter top which hugged her small body in all the right places. The red halter-top had strings that went up around her neck and down her back into gold rings. It then criss crossed her back three times, and tied at the bottom. Her mid section was bare, until the top of her light blue low-cut jeans. Her jeans had circles cut out along the sides, exposing the pale skin beneath. The final touch to her outfit was a pair of black leather ankle boots. She grabbed the keys to the Jetta off of her end stand, and walked out of her bedroom. </p> <p>Liz and Kyle sat at a small table, waiting for Maria to sing. &quot;Maria should be signing in a few minutes,&quot; Liz said. Kyle looked at the stage, still unable to believe Maria was going to sing, and that his father's band 'The Shit Kickers' was going to play the back ground music. &quot;I still can't believe my dad&quot; Kyle said. He watched his dad setting up for their show. Maria walked in a few minutes later, walking over to Jim. </p> <p>The lights dimmed as &quot;The shit kickers' started to play the music for the song Maria was going to sing. Maria stood on the stage holding the microphone in her small hands.
